Oats in a Jar! (Vegan/Gluten Free)
Hey everyone!
I'm finally back after my hiatus and I'm happy to announce that I'll be regularly writing on this blog throughout the summer! I've been busy with applying for jobs as well as packing since I'm in the process of moving to a new neighbourhood in the city.
I have also been creating some of my own vegan recipes that I want to share with you all!
Today I'll be teaching you how to make Jarred Oats. This recipe is easy to make so if you're running late to school/work and don't have lots of time in the morning you can throw on the mason jar lid and take it to go! Don't forget to bring a spoon!
What you'll need:
- Rolled oats (the ones I used were gluten free)
- Mango
- Ripe Banana
- Berries
- Dark chocolate/vegan chocolate chips
- Chia seeds
- Almonds
- Coconut milk
- A cute lil mason jar for that Instagram worthy aesthetic!
How to prepare:
- Half a cup of gluten free oats, one cup of water, 1/8 teaspoon of salt (optional)
*note:I personally like to pour half water/half plant based milk so it's creamier.
- If you use a microwave, combine the oats & water. Heat for 1-2 minutes and stir.
- If you're using a stovetop, bring the water/plant milk/salt to a boil. Add the oats and set burner to low heat to let simmer for 5-6 minutes. Remove from heat, stir and let stand for 2 minutes.
- Add chocolate chips in with hot oatmeal for a chocolatey treat and pour in your mason jar.
- Sprinkle almonds, chia seeds and a drop of coconut milk over oats.
- Chop berries, slice a banana and mango pieces and add on top of the oatmeal.
- Drizzle agave or maple syrup if desired.
- Enjoy!
